Eric L. Saunders, MD

I earned my medical degree from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. After a transitional internship at Vanderbilt University Hospital, I completed radiation oncology residency training at Vanderbilt University and UCLA in Los Angeles, California.  I also completed a Radiobiology Research Fellowship at Vanderbilt University where I studied the effects of radiation damage on cells invitro. I received board certification in radiation oncology from the American Board of Radiology in 1993.  Following residency training, I spent four years in the U.S. Navy, where I served as the Division Head for Radiation Oncology at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego, California.  Next, I was involved in academic medicine where I served as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Radiation Oncology at the UCSD Medical Center in San Diego. I have also completed specialized training in Prostate Seed Implantation and Gamma Knife Radiosurgery.
